Turkish Interregnum at 91

Seven baker's dozen years ago today, Turkey was proclaimed a republic.

Four years short of a century ago tomorrow, the Ottoman Empire and the Allies of the Great War agreed to an armistice.

To-day's headlines continually prove that the Allies made a tremendous mistake in dismembering the great Turkish Empire after WWI. All those new nation states, Libya, Syria et al are continuously having uprisings. These uprisings now spill over onto the international stage and sometimes end up on the West's doorstep. The last claimant to the Turkish Throne died at an extremely advanced age in New York City a few years back. I wonder if any other claimant in that vast family will ever step forward?
