Over at the Telegraph, the great High Scots Tory Gerald Warner defends the Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
By the way, Gerald Warner's Scotsman Sunday column has been revived. Whereas 4 columns totally ran from late June to October. Gerald Warner's column has been running for the Scotsman every Sunday since November 16.

It seems to me that Warner, whose blog I've often enjoyed in the past, is not so much defending Grand Duke Henri as wishing he and other constitutional monarchs would be more intransigent on these sorts of issues, even if it meant the end of the monarchy. I cannot agree with him there; I would rather have even emasculated monarchies than republics.
You're probably right, Mr. Harvey, about Mr. Warner's position.
However, he is to an extent defending the Grand Duke, although he could definitely go further in such defense.
It's also a question of what's attacked – or the contrary taken for granted – and not defended will fall.
